by Tem Balanco

If your family and friends are located throughout the nation or even the globe, you might experience difficulty in staying connected. Most likely you'd like to give them your current news, however that presents a problem since everyone is so preoccupied lately, prices of stamps and telephone calls are rising, and it's time-consuming trying to e-mail everyone individually. So to facilitate things, it might be a good time to "build your own website".

It is not difficult, expensive, or even time consuming to make a web site. When you are in the planning and beginning stages a bit of time is involved, but updates can be done quickly and almost effortlessly once you get the site going.

The first step is to select a host for your site. There are many available options, including Internet service providers. If there is one that you are currently using, check with them to see if they offer space for web site publishing to their customers. There are also many companies that offer free web-hosting and can be found quickly and easily just by doing an Internet search. Alternately, for a relatively small cost, you can buy a domain of your own and arrange for it to be hosted for a small monthly charge.

The next step is to choose what you'll be putting on your website. To do this, start out by making an outline or notes so that you can begin to organize your content. Organization of content is absolutely essential if you want to build your own website and have success. Keeping things in a logical order will make it easier for visitors to find the information they want, and make it simpler for you to make updates or corrections to the site as needed.

Prior to getting started on your project to build your own website, choose the colors that you plan to use and come up with a navigation plan. One of the most important aspects of any successful website is ease of navigation. Once you have settled these important matters, it will not take long to build your own website.

If this is the first time you have created a website, several online hosting services have helpful tools you might want to use. There are templates will make it breeze for the beginner to incorporate a website on the internet. Also, you can attempt to use one of the many available WYSIWYB web pages to edit your website. You don't need to know anything about HTML and you will be able to view your website the way other people will see it on the internet.

When your friends and family live far away, a great way of keeping them updated is to build your own website. You will first need to choose a host, which might be your Internet service provider or another company which provides web hosting services for little or no cost. Next, you should decide what information to include and how to organize it into a cohesive site that is easy to maintain. Select a fairly simple navigational scheme and choose a few harmonious colors to work with. If you have not designed a website before, there are templates and editors available that make this daunting task much easier.
